What is a BaZi reading?
A BaZi reading interprets the Four Pillars of Destiny — the eight Chinese characters from your birth year, month, day, and hour. It reads the balance of the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) to describe your personality, strengths, and favourable timing. Learn more in What Is a BaZi Reading?
Is BaZi accurate or scientific?
BaZi is a classical metaphysical system, not a modern empirical science. It describes tendencies and probabilities rather than guaranteed outcomes. Many people find it strikingly insightful for self-understanding and timing, but it should complement — never replace — professional medical, legal, or financial advice and your own judgement.
What is the difference between BaZi and the Chinese zodiac?
The Chinese zodiac (your animal sign) uses only your birth year — one of BaZi’s eight characters. BaZi uses all four pillars (year, month, day, hour), so it is far more detailed and personal. See BaZi vs. Zodiac Signs, or compare it with Western astrology in BaZi vs. Western Astrology.
How do I find my Day Master or Four Pillars?
Your Four Pillars are calculated from your birth date, exact birth time, and birthplace using the Chinese solar calendar. Your Day Master is the Heavenly Stem on top of your Day pillar — the character that represents you. The easiest way is our free BaZi calculator; to understand it, read the Day Master explained.
Which Chinese metaphysics system is best for decisions?
BaZi is most widely used for career, wealth, and relationship timing through its Luck Pillars and annual elements. For specific, time-sensitive choices, Qi Men Dun Jia and Da Liu Ren are favoured. Many practitioners combine BaZi for the life map with Qi Men for tactical timing.
Can BaZi tell me when I will get rich or married?
BaZi can highlight favourable windows for wealth and relationships by reading your Luck Pillars and annual elements, and it can describe the strength of your Wealth and Relationship stars. It does not promise specific outcomes or exact dates. See how BaZi reads career, wealth and relationships.
How much does a professional BaZi reading cost?
OracleEast’s readings are priced at $19 for an introductory single-question reading, $99 and $149 for in-depth personalised reports of increasing scope, and $299 for a full report with a live one-to-one consultation. A free BaZi chart is also available. More detail in How Much Does a BaZi Reading Cost?
What information do I need for a BaZi reading?
You need your birth date, your exact birth time, and your birthplace (city and country). The birth time is essential — the Hour pillar is one of the four pillars — and the birthplace allows a true-solar-time correction. If you do not know your birth time, a reading can still be done with the other three pillars, with the limitation noted.
Does BaZi use the lunar calendar?
No — a common misconception. BaZi uses the solar calendar and the 24 solar terms. The BaZi year changes at the Start of Spring (around February 4), not at Chinese New Year, and months change at twelve fixed solar terms.
Is a BaZi reading confidential?
Yes. Your birth details and reading are treated as private personal data, used only to prepare your reading, and never sold or shared. See our Service Policies & Disclaimer for details.
