Chinese divination method guide · revised 7 August 2026
Direct answer: Use Qi Men Dun Jia when the problem is strategic—timing, direction, positioning, option comparison or the wider field. Use Da Liu Ren Jin Kou Jue when one event-specific question requires close analysis of the subject, counterpart, support, resistance and near-term development. OracleEast uses Time-based Rotating-Plate Chai-Bu Qi Men and the Jin Kou Jue Four Positions framework; the methods are not interchangeable.
Method comparison
| Dimension | Qi Men Dun Jia | Da Liu Ren Jin Kou Jue |
|---|---|---|
| OracleEast school | Time-based Rotating-Plate Chai-Bu method | Jin Kou Jue Four Positions method |
| Core structure | Nine palaces with stems, doors, stars and spirits arranged for the time | Earth Division, General Spirit, Noble Spirit and Human Origin |
| Best fit | Strategy, timing windows, direction, positioning, comparing courses of action | One concrete event, counterpart dynamics, hidden resistance, near-term development |
| Typical input | Exact question, casting time and location; options/directions when relevant | One clearly framed question, casting time and the subject/counterpart context |
| Output | Field map, favorable/unfavorable conditions, sequence and positioning | Relationship chain, support/resistance, likely development and factual indicators |
| Common misuse | Reading a palace in isolation or treating “auspicious” as guaranteed success | Calling it a four-lesson system or asking several unrelated questions in one课 |
How OracleEast validates a Qi Men chart
Before interpretation, the practitioner checks casting time, place and time zone; yin or yang dun; bureau number; xun head; Chief Deity and Chief Door. The reading then weighs palace strength, Door–Star–Spirit–Stem relationships, combinations and clashes, and the question’s designated symbol. A conclusion should specify the real-world condition that would confirm or falsify it.
How the Jin Kou Jue Four Positions work
Jin Kou Jue organizes the课 through four positions: Earth Division, General Spirit, Noble Spirit and Human Origin. The positions are read through element relationships, strength, support, restraint, movement and the identities represented in the question. Calling this simply “four lessons” confuses it with a different technical structure and weakens source accuracy.
Three routing examples
“Which launch date and direction gives the team the best strategic field?” Start with Qi Men because timing, direction and positioning are central.
“Will this specific counterparty sign, and where is the hidden resistance?” Start with Da Liu Ren Jin Kou Jue because the subject–counterpart event is narrow and testable.
“Should I accept one of two job offers this month?” Qi Men can compare the options and timing; BaZi may be added only to test personal timing capacity. Da Liu Ren may be added only if one counterpart or event outcome needs separate examination.
Evidence, uncertainty and safety
A responsible reading records the chart, method, designated symbols, supporting evidence, conflicting evidence, conclusion, time window and verification point. If the chart or question is ambiguous, the answer should say that evidence is insufficient rather than manufacture certainty. For health, law or finance, the metaphysical conclusion is not professional medical, legal or investment advice.
